Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) is a tool used to evaluate clients that are in pain. The focus is to systematically identity movement and motor control dysfunctions, thereby identifying the underlying cause(s) of pain. A treatment plan is then developed using hands on techniques, and exercises based on how human beings learn movement as babies, including rolling, crawling, walking and bending over. The result is improved movement patterns, which reduces the chance of pain returning.
